Your cape is shredded… Your mask is stifling …

The code switching is making you forget who you are.

The weight of everything is getting to you. You work too much.. You are numb a lot of time and your body is betraying you. Even when you try to do all that you were told to do and learn all the things you were supposed to learn to become the professional that you are.. They still underestimate you. You can't afford to take your foot off the gas, too many are depending on you to make it and there is no way to really be ALL of who you are. You don't dare share how the “work space” is actually hostile to you or not a place where all of you can be seen and understood. A space where you do not have to center the “dominant culture” but rather YOU be the sun in your own universe.

You aren’t like them and can never be- no matter how hard you try. You can't let yourself feel all the feelings. They are too overwhelming. So you file them away or put them in neat little boxes so that you can get up again and do it all over. They say “you belong here” in their company statements and that they value diversity and inclusion but the reality of daily micro racial and gender assaults are reminders that you are not the “norm” and that your full self is too much for this place and you make others feel intimidated or uncomfortable when you dare to share your truth. So the mask goes back on.. All the while rage builds.

You have numbed to the point of accepting this as normal. Lack of good sleep, a body that feels “off” or disconnected, feel down or anxious, your anger seeping into other places and relationships that don't deserve it. You experience self imposed isolation or distance from others because you're sick and tired of being sick and tired and don't want to talk about it.

But despite all this you want to be seen and to have someone see you.. ALL OF YOU. Without the cape or the masks or the code switching. Where you can take up as much space as you need and in the ways that you need and for that to be celebrated and encouraged. That you can experience care and feel seen and supported so that you can release the pain and begin to heal. To claim liberation within and outside of the box you are in.. to find a way through... be all parts of you.

Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.

ME

I help those who feel isolated, exhausted, experiencing shame/imposter syndrome, and can’t trust their own sense of things. I love working with Black People, Queer People, BiPOC People, women in non-traditional work settings, and those “sitting in the margins” from those that they work with or the world in general to become the center of their own lives.

I am a healer and intuitive therapist who centers anti-oppression, trauma informed and cultural wisdom in my work. I sit at the intersection of many identities and experiences and so I weave all of that together to be of service. I have been working for over 15 years providing various forms of therapy and I co-creates a space where you can show up, be seen, and share your truth. All my experiences, training, deep empathy, wisdom, curiosity and humor are what I use to show up and show out for my clients.

I feel humbled to do this work and for the deep relationships I have with my clients. I know that liberation work is an exchange of sorts and when you become freer, so do others. My clients usually see me weekly to start and then we reassess as the work deepens. WE

Create restoration and sacred space that is made just for you and your healing. Through time we will find a path forward together where you feel more grounded, connected to self, understand the larger context and have real practices and useful tools to step into whatever situation and bring all of you to the experience. We will find the right mix of antidotes that work for you against oppression and the daily grind.

Let’s work to find joy within the despair and release some of the pressure you are carrying.. You can put down your armor, mask, cape, and take up space and experience your own liberation and the power of consciousness vulnerability. You will find ways to improve your relationship with yourself and have the ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries. You will know how to replenish your energy and release that righteous rage, transmuting it to be of value to you and the work that you do.

When we are truly witnessed and held in the “mess” of what is … that space is sacred and vital. Let's begin to create this space together.. Email me at raquel@wellstherapy.com
